Drop a GIF or select it from your device. The workspace opens while the editor reads the animation and prepares frame previews.
Select a frame or range, crop the image, adjust the canvas, trim the animation or add a layer. Use live playback to review motion and composition.
Export the edited GIF, watch the generated Result preview and check its size. Download it when the motion, timing and transparent edges look right.
This editor works with an existing GIF animation. To assemble photographs into a new animation, use GIF Maker. If the animation is already correct and only its file size needs attention, use GIF Compressor.
Cropping removes an unwanted part of every original frame. Use a square crop for an avatar, a portrait crop for a narrow layout, or enter pixel coordinates for a precise cut. The crop overlay appears on the original animation so you can judge whether a moving subject remains inside the selected area. Inspect several frames before committing the crop.
Resizing controls the output canvas. Keep the aspect-ratio lock enabled for proportional dimensions. With the lock disabled, the image fits inside the chosen canvas with padding rather than stretching. Transparent padding is useful for artwork and stickers; a solid background is useful when the destination does not display transparency as expected. Percentage buttons resize from the cropped source dimensions.
A smaller canvas usually requires fewer pixels per frame and can make export faster. Enlarging an animation cannot recover detail that was missing from the source. For still-image dimensions, visit Resize Image or Bulk Image Resizer.
Remove an unwanted introduction, cut a pause at the end, or retain only the useful action. Frame ranges are inclusive, and Keep range retains the selected portion. Remove range cuts it out. Time-based selection chooses intersecting frames because a GIF cannot be cut between pixels of a frame's display time. Check the resulting frame numbers before applying the trim.
Speed changes adjust delays across the animation. A 2x setting shortens delays, while 0.5x makes them longer. GIF timing uses hundredths of a second, so some multipliers require rounding. The editor uses a minimum 20 ms delay for export to reduce problems with very short timing. Live editing is a practical preview, while the Result view plays the actual encoded GIF in your browser.
Reverse changes frame order. Ping-pong adds a backwards pass without duplicating the two endpoints. Each reordered frame is reconstructed from its original appearance so partial updates are not simply shuffled. Choose play once, forever or a repeat count for the exported animation. A finite loop may behave differently in applications that override file playback settings.
Deleting frames can shorten an animation. Dropping every second frame while adding its delay to the previous retained frame preserves nominal duration while reducing temporal detail. Fast movement can look less smooth. Compare the complete action after removing frames rather than judging only the first image.
A text layer can label a demonstration, caption a reaction or identify a product. Type directly inside the preview box, adjust the font and colour, and add an outline for contrast. Move the layer using its drag label and resize it using the corner handle. Numeric position and dimension fields help when you need precise placement.
Choose an inclusive frame range to show a caption during only part of the animation. Image layers support JPG, PNG and WebP, making a transparent PNG logo a useful choice. Layer order controls which elements appear in front. Crops and rotations affect the source animation; overlays are positioned on the final output canvas.
Check that captions do not cover important action and stay readable at the size where the GIF will be displayed. You can prepare artwork with Add Text to Image, create a transparent cutout with Remove Image Background, or change a still frame's backdrop with Change Photo Background.
GIF stores indexed colours instead of full photographic colour for every pixel. Each palette can contain up to 256 colours. Re-encoding edited frames may change fine gradients or introduce banding. A smaller colour count can reduce bytes but also reduce detail. Optional dithering approximates missing colours with a pattern, which can improve gradients, add texture and increase processing time.
Transparency is a fully transparent or fully opaque choice in GIF. Soft edges from a PNG logo or resized source must be converted to that binary choice. This editor uses a 50% opacity threshold. Inspect hair, outlines and small lettering against the background where the animation will actually be used.
Editing does not guarantee a smaller file. The source may already use efficient partial-frame updates, while text, noise and changing palettes can make the result harder to compress. Optional optimization runs after encoding and keeps its output only when it is smaller. For additional compression options, continue with Compress GIF. For static graphics, compare PNG Compressor and WebP Compressor.
Download current frame PNG saves the edited frame at output dimensions. Use frame selection and Download frames ZIP to extract a chosen set. With no selection, the ZIP contains all edited frames. PNG extraction preserves the rendered frame pixels without GIF palette conversion, but a large ZIP still needs browser memory. Download fewer frames at once if the device struggles.
The source GIF stays on your device. Editing libraries are loaded when needed and expensive frame processing runs in workers. The editor keeps the source data and a limited working set of decoded frames rather than expanding the whole animation into full-resolution images at once. Frame thumbnails are prepared in groups so the frame panel remains manageable.
There is no fixed upload-size or frame-count limit, but available memory is finite. A small compressed GIF can still contain many large frames. Large inputs show a warning. Reducing the canvas or trimming unwanted frames can help; avoid exporting several demanding animations in different tabs on a phone.
Cancel export stops the active export worker and keeps your edits. Closing the workspace stops processing and clears the session. Download before leaving or refreshing. The exported file is reconstructed from image pixels rather than copying arbitrary source comments.

Yes. The browser reads your GIF locally and downloads the editing engine as needed. The editor does not send your GIF to an image-processing server. Ads and ordinary site resources still make network requests.
Editing and downloading are free, without an account or an export watermark. You can add your own caption, logo or watermark as a layer.
Open Crop / size, choose Draw crop on preview and drag over the original image. Apply the crop, then export the GIF. The same crop is applied across the animation. You can also enter exact crop coordinates and use aspect-ratio presets.
Select frames in the left panel and open Manage frames. Delete removes the selection; an individual frame also has its own delete button. Keep at least one frame. Undo restores an accidental deletion.
Yes. Enter a start and end time in Trim and choose Select intersecting frames. The editor selects the frame range touching those times. Review the range and choose Keep range or Remove range. GIFs use discrete frames, so cuts snap to frame boundaries.
Choose a speed multiplier under Timing and playback. The editor adjusts each frame's delay while retaining relative timing as closely as GIF's 10 ms units allow. Export uses a minimum 20 ms delay; browsers can still differ in their treatment of short delays.
Not necessarily. This editor reconstructs frames and encodes them into GIF palettes. Cropping, resizing, overlays and re-encoding can change colours or edges. For storage optimization without pixel editing, try GIF Compressor and its lossless mode.
Preserve transparency is enabled by default. GIF transparency is binary rather than a smooth alpha channel. During export, pixels below 50% opacity become transparent and other pixels become opaque. A solid background can help avoid rough edges when resizing transparent artwork.
Add a text layer, type directly in the preview or use the text field, then set its inclusive start and end frame numbers. Layers can also contain a PNG, JPG or WebP logo. You can move, resize, rotate and reorder layers.
Download current frame PNG exports the edited current frame. Download frames ZIP exports selected frames, or all frames if none are selected. Exported PNGs include the crop, canvas and overlays visible in the live edit.
There is no fixed input byte-size or frame-count limit. Large animations show a warning, and available browser memory still sets a practical limit. Reduce dimensions or remove unwanted frames if export fails. Processing uses workers and prepares frames individually rather than storing every full decoded frame.
The source may already store partial frame updates efficiently. Reconstructing frames, adding text, changing palettes and dithering can increase output size. Optional optimization keeps a smaller version only when it actually reduces bytes. GIF Compressor offers additional size-reduction controls.
Reset reopens the original GIF and clears frame edits, layers and generated results. Undo and redo are better for reversing individual changes. Closing the workspace also clears the editing session, so download work before leaving.
