Tool Output and Results

The results produced by our tools, including compressed images, format-converted files, resized images, SVG traces, watermarked images, and PDF documents, may vary based on the source file quality, browser, device, and settings used.

Specific limitations to be aware of:

  • SVG Vectorizer (Logo and Icon to SVG): This tool uses algorithmic tracing to convert raster images into vector paths. It works well on flat-color logos and simple icons. It does not produce good results on photographs, gradients, textures, or low-resolution source images. The output SVG is not a mathematically perfect vector recreation of the source; it is an approximation.
  • Image Compression: Compression results depend on the source image content. Actual file size reductions may differ from any estimates shown. Lossy compression will reduce visual quality to varying degrees depending on the quality setting chosen.
  • Format Conversion: Converting between formats may result in minor quality differences, especially when converting from a lossless format (PNG) to a lossy format (JPG, WebP, AVIF). Transparent backgrounds are converted to white when outputting to formats that do not support transparency such as JPG and PDF.
  • PDF Tools: SVG content is rasterized before embedding in PDF. Any raster images embedded within a PDF that is being extracted will be output as raster files, not as vectors.
  • Compress to Exact Size: Our tools aim to reach a target file size but cannot always guarantee an exact match. The output file may be slightly above or below the target depending on the source image.
