Our mission
Why ImgTweak exists
Editing and compressing images should not require uploading them to unknown servers, creating accounts, or paying subscription fees.
Most online image tools store your uploads. Some use them to train machine learning models. Many require an account before you can download your own file. ImgTweak was built as a direct answer to all of that.
What most people do not realise is that photos taken on phones embed hidden metadata: GPS coordinates showing exactly where a photo was taken, timestamps, camera model and lens data. ImgTweak strips all of this automatically during compression. Your exported files are clean by default.

Our principles
What we stand for
Privacy by default
Your images never leave your device. All processing runs locally in the browser using WebAssembly. EXIF data, GPS coordinates and embedded metadata are stripped automatically during compression.
Free forever
No hidden tiers. No watermarks on exported files. No usage caps. No credit card required. Every tool on ImgTweak is and will remain free.
No registration
Open the tool, drop your image, done. There is no account, no email, no cookie consent wall. Nothing between you and the output.
Quality first
ImgTweak uses the same compression libraries trusted by professional photographers and web engineers worldwide: MozJPEG, OxiPNG, libwebp, libavif and libjxl.
Mobile as a first-class platform
Every tool is tested on real phones. Touch targets are large. Layouts adapt. The compressor, crop tool and watermark editor all work on a 375px screen.
Technology
Industry-standard libraries
ImgTweak uses the same open-source codecs trusted by professional photographers, web engineers and browser vendors worldwide. All are compiled to WebAssembly and run at near-native speed directly in your browser.
MozJPEG
Mozilla's JPEG encoder. Produces significantly smaller files than standard libjpeg at the same quality.
OxiPNG
Rust-based PNG optimiser. Lossless compression with maximum deflate optimisation.
libwebp
Google's reference WebP encoder and decoder. Handles both lossy and lossless WebP.
libavif
AOM's AVIF reference library. The most efficient codec available for photographic content.
libjxl
JPEG XL reference implementation. The next-generation format with lossless JPEG recompression.
WebAssembly
All codec libraries compile to Wasm and run at near-native speed directly inside the browser.
Works offline. You can verify that no uploads happen by disconnecting from the internet after the page loads. Every tool still works, because everything runs locally.
Privacy
What happens to your images
When you drop an image into ImgTweak, the file is read by your browser using the Web File API. It never leaves your device. There is no upload, no network request carrying your image data, and no server that touches your file.
Compression, resizing, cropping and format conversion all happen in WebAssembly modules running in your browser tab. When you click download, the output file is written directly to your local disk via the browser's download API.
EXIF metadata, which can include GPS coordinates, camera serial number, timestamps and software fingerprints, is removed during compression. This is not optional. It happens automatically on every image you export.
