Choose the right batch resize method
Exact width and height creates a consistent canvas for every file. Fit keeps the entire picture, Fill crops the edges, and Stretch changes the proportions.
Width or height changes one dimension and calculates the other from each source image. This is useful for blogs, galleries and email where mixed orientations should retain their proportions.
Percentage scales every source by the same amount. Maximum longest side constrains large images while retaining landscape and portrait orientations.
For one carefully framed image, use the single image resizer or image cropper.
Large batches and browser memory
There is no image count limit in the interface. The thumbnail queue stays inside a fixed scrollable panel, so adding more files does not make the workspace endlessly longer.
Each source is decoded, resized and released before the next file is processed. The final ZIP still has to fit in available browser memory. A phone may need smaller groups when the sources are high-resolution photos or the output dimensions are large.
If the files only need to become smaller without changing their dimensions, use Reduce Image Size in KB, the JPEG Compressor or the PNG Compressor.
Convert formats while resizing
JPG is widely accepted and efficient for photographs. PNG preserves sharp graphics but can produce larger files. WebP often provides smaller files while supporting both photographs and transparency. Use the dedicated PNG to JPG, JPG to WebP and WebP to JPG tools when conversion is the only change required.
Prepare images for publishing
Use the filename prefix, suffix and sequence controls to create predictable export names. For ecommerce presets and individual positioning, open the Product Image Resizer. For social platforms, choose the relevant preset from the Edit and Resize tools.
Canvas export does not copy hidden EXIF or GPS fields. You can inspect a source with the Image Analyzer or deliberately clean an unchanged image with Remove EXIF Data.
Frequently asked questions
How many images can I resize at once?
The tool does not impose an image count limit. Your browser still needs enough memory to hold the selected files and create the final ZIP, so extremely large batches may need to be divided on phones or low-memory computers.
Can I select a folder?
Yes. Use Choose folder on the page or Folder in the workspace. Review the image count and filenames, then click Add images. Supported images from the folder and its subfolders load progressively; non-image files are skipped. Browser permission prompts cannot be styled by the site. Folder selection depends on browser support. Choose images remains available as a fallback. ZIP downloads contain resized files rather than the original folder structure.
Can I stop loading a large batch?
Yes. Stop loading stops preparation after the current asynchronous operation returns. Images already loaded remain available. Failed files show individual messages and can be retried. Resize actions are enabled after preparation finishes or stops.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Image decoding, resizing, conversion, renaming and ZIP creation run locally in your browser.
Can every image keep its own aspect ratio?
Yes. Choose width, height, percentage or maximum longest side. Exact width and height also offer Fit, Fill and Stretch choices.
What does Fit do?
Fit keeps the complete image visible inside the requested dimensions and uses the selected padding color for unused space.
What does Fill do?
Fill covers the full output canvas while retaining the source proportions. Parts near the edges can be cropped.
Can I resize without enlarging small images?
Yes. Keep Do not enlarge smaller images enabled. Large images shrink while smaller images retain the dimensions they can support.
Can the tool target a maximum file size?
JPG and WebP outputs can target a maximum KB value by adjusting encoding quality. PNG does not expose an equivalent quality control in the browser.
Does the output keep EXIF or GPS information?
No. The browser draws the visible pixels onto a new canvas and encodes a new file, so source EXIF and GPS metadata are not copied.
