Photo and Signature Resizer

Prepare two separate files for government forms, examinations, job applications and immigration portals. Set exact dimensions and file size limits for your photograph and signature, then review both results before downloading.

How to resize your photo and signature

  1. Read the application notice

Copy the required width, height, format and lower and upper file size limits for each field. Use the notice for your current examination or application cycle.

  2. Add the two originals

Choose the photograph and the scanned signature in their labelled upload areas. Adding either file opens the full screen workspace, where you can add the other file.

  3. Frame and prepare

Use Fit to retain the complete image, or Fill and the position controls when cropping is appropriate. Trim signature paper and convert to black and white only if those changes are allowed.

  4. Review the actual exports

Prepare the images, check the dimensions and byte counts side by side, and inspect the exported previews. Download individually or save both in one ZIP.

Photo and signature requirements are not universal

A photograph may need a portrait crop while a signature needs a wide, shallow canvas. A portal can impose a minimum file size as well as a maximum. The starting sizes in this tool are editable examples, so always replace them with your own portal requirements.

Examples from official notices, reviewed October 2, 2026. These are not universal presets.
NoticeSignature guidanceWhat to verify
IBPS Deputy Manager, April 2026 (PDF)Preferred 140 x 60 pixels, 10 to 20 KB, black ink on white paper. The notice for your actual recruitment, signature clarity and the required format.
SSC Phase XIV, 2026 (PDF)JPG or JPEG, 10 to 20 KB, approximately 6 cm wide by 2 cm high. Its photograph workflow includes live capture. A resized saved photo is not a substitute.

A measurement in centimetres does not define a pixel count by itself. If the notice also gives a resolution, pixels equal inches multiplied by DPI. Use the DPI tool to inspect or set print density, and the aspect ratio calculator to compare shapes. This resizer exports pixel dimensions and does not set a custom DPI tag.

Control the photo crop without stretching

Fit retains the image proportions and places it on a white canvas. Fill covers the target canvas and crops the excess at the edges. Zoom and horizontal and vertical position controls let you choose the visible area. Review the head, shoulders and margins before export.

For document specific head guides or print sheets, use the Passport Photo Maker. To inspect a finished photo, use the Passport Photo Checker. A resize does not verify identity, expression, photo age or acceptance.

Trim blank paper around a signature

A scan often contains much more paper than handwriting. Trimming finds dark pixels and crops the surrounding empty area. The ink threshold controls which pixels count as ink, while the margin adds space around the final signature. A higher threshold can include faint strokes but can also include shadows or paper texture.

Use a clear scan of your own signature on clean paper. Preserve dots, loops and fine lines. Optional black and white conversion may help with grey paper but can lose faint strokes. For ruled paper, shadows or marks near the edges, use the manual image cropper first.

Minimum and maximum KB explained

The photograph and signature can have completely different KB ranges. Enter the lower and upper bounds independently, or leave a bound blank. Choose whether the portal counts one KB as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes. The validation displays the exact byte count so rounding does not hide a small excess.

For JPG, the tool tests quality levels while keeping the output dimensions fixed. PNG is lossless and can be larger, especially for photographs. If the maximum cannot be reached, the result is labelled for review. If a simple signature is below the minimum even at the highest quality, use a more detailed original or larger dimensions only if the portal permits them. The tool does not add meaningless padding bytes.

For a single file that only needs compression, visit Compress Image for Government Form, Compress Image for Job Application or Reduce Image Size in KB. If only pixel dimensions need changing, use the general image resizer.

Privacy, mobile processing and file handling

The originals stay on your device. Processing uses the browser canvas with no face or background model download. Files are checked before decoding, and large images use a smaller working copy to control memory. The workspace displays this when it happens. Source files can be JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 20 MB and 20 megapixels each. Output is limited to 4,096 pixels per side and six million pixels per file.

JPG and PNG exports use an opaque white canvas. Re-encoding does not copy source camera or GPS metadata. ZIP support loads only when requested. Download both results before refreshing or leaving the page. For iPhone HEIC sources, use HEIC to JPG first. You can inspect output files with the image information tool.

Frequently asked questions

Can I set different sizes for my photo and signature?

Yes. Each image has separate pixel dimensions, minimum and maximum KB, JPG or PNG format, rotation and framing controls. You can prepare one file or both files together.

Will the exported files always meet my KB range?

The tool searches JPEG quality while preserving your exact dimensions. Some ranges are impossible for a particular image. Both exports display their actual bytes and a warning if they are outside the range. PNG has no JPEG quality control. Files are not padded to increase their size.

How do I resize a signature to 140 by 60 pixels?

Add the signature, enter 140 for width and 60 for height, choose the required file format and enter the KB range from your notice. Use Fit to preserve all strokes, then prepare the image and inspect its output. Those dimensions are an example, not a rule for every application.

Does signature trimming remove the background?

It finds dark ink on light paper and crops the surrounding blank area. It does not segment a person or replace a photographed background. Review dots, thin strokes and shadowed paper carefully. Optional black and white conversion changes the signature image and should only be used when permitted.

Can I use this instead of a live application photo?

No. If the portal requires a live camera capture, follow that workflow in the portal. Resizing a saved photo cannot replace a mandatory live photograph or any identity verification step.

Is a photo or signature sent to a server?

No. The tool reads and processes both files in your browser. It does not use a background removal or face model. ZIP support loads when you request the combined download. Your source files are unchanged.

What does the ZIP contain?

The ZIP contains photo.jpg or photo.png and signature.jpg or signature.png. Extract it before uploading each image to the correct field. It does not combine the photo and signature into one picture.

Can I use the tool on a phone?

Yes. The workspace stacks the two files on small screens. Input limits and smaller working copies help control memory use. Start with a clear crop instead of a very large scan when possible.
