iPhones and iPads save photos in HEIC format by default because it offers better compression than JPEG at the same quality. However, HEIC is not widely supported outside Apple devices. When you need to submit photos to a portal, share documents by email, or print from a non-Apple device, HEIC files are often rejected or fail to open.
Converting to PDF solves all of these problems at once. A single PDF can contain all your photos in the correct order, opens on every device and operating system, and is accepted by virtually every submission portal and email client.

Assuming the PDF conversion is lossless
It isn't, for HEIC or AVIF sources. Since PDF only natively embeds JPEG or PNG, this tool re-encodes HEIC and AVIF to JPEG at a fixed quality of 82 with no slider to adjust it. If you need control over that setting, convert to JPG first at your chosen quality, then build the PDF from that JPG.
Leaving page size on Fit to image for photos of different resolutions
Fit to image sizes each page to its own source photo, so a PDF built from photos with different dimensions will have differently sized pages throughout the document. Switch to A4 or Letter if you need every page the same size.
Not realizing AVIF files are accepted too
The tool handles AVIF alongside HEIC, JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF, even though the page is focused on HEIC. You don't need to convert an AVIF file to another format first.
Expecting transparency to survive from a transparent WebP or GIF
Non-JPEG, non-PNG formats are flattened onto a white background during the transcode to JPEG for embedding. If you're mixing in a transparent graphic alongside your HEIC photos, its transparent areas will turn white in the PDF.
Assuming reordering only works by dragging
