Compress SVG code with precise cleanup controls, compare the real file size and preview the result before downloading.

Private local processing. No account. No fixed upload limit.

Choose an SVG to optimize

Drop an SVG anywhere in this area or click to choose one. Processing stays in your browser.

Choose SVG

One SVG at a time. No fixed file size cap, though device memory still matters.

How to optimize an SVG

1

Choose an SVG

Drop the file into the upload area or choose it from your device.

2

Review the preview

The optimized drawing and size results appear automatically.

3

Adjust cleanup

Control precision, metadata, dimensions, IDs and code formatting.

4

Download the result

Save the optimized SVG or inspect and copy its source code.

What SVG optimization changes

SVG is XML text. Design tools often save comments, editor namespaces, long decimal coordinates, repeated attributes and other code that browsers do not need to draw the image. SVGO analyzes that structure and safely rewrites supported parts into more compact equivalents.

The result remains an SVG vector file. It does not become a JPG or PNG, and optimization does not intentionally reduce its pixel resolution.

Useful for

  • ✓Website icons and logos
  • ✓Inline SVG used in HTML
  • ✓Illustrations exported from design software
  • ✓SVG files shipped in applications
  • ✓Reducing transfer size without rasterizing artwork

Settings explained

Multiple passes

Runs SVGO more than once so a change made in one pass can unlock another optimization.

Number precision

Controls decimal digits in coordinates and transforms. Three is a balanced default for most artwork.

Responsive SVG

Removes fixed dimensions but keeps viewBox, allowing the SVG to scale through CSS.

ID cleanup

Shortens internal identifiers. It can save space, but external CSS or code may depend on the original names.

Safe preview

The displayed copy removes scripts, event handlers, embedded HTML and remote references before rendering.

Readable code

Formats XML for people to inspect. Leave it off when the smallest production file is the goal.

SVG optimization limitations

  • External fonts and images may render differently when they are unavailable.
  • Animated or scripted SVG applications can change when active code is removed.
  • Very low precision may visibly affect detailed paths and technical drawings.
  • An optimized SVG can occasionally be larger when readable formatting or responsive attributes are selected.
  • Always check critical brand artwork and interactive SVG behavior in its final website or application.

Frequently asked questions

What does the SVG optimizer remove?+

The default settings remove unnecessary metadata, editor data, comments, redundant attributes and inefficient path data. They also shorten colors and numeric values where SVGO can do so without changing the intended drawing.

Will optimization change how my SVG looks?+

The default configuration is conservative and keeps the viewBox. Very low number precision can alter detailed paths slightly. Check the preview before downloading, especially for maps, technical drawings and small icons.

Does the optimizer remove scripts?+

Yes. Script elements and active scripting references are removed. The on-page preview also blocks remote resources and active embedded content. You should still treat every downloaded SVG as a file and review it before embedding it as live markup on a sensitive website.

What does Responsive SVG do?+

It removes fixed width and height attributes while preserving the viewBox. This lets CSS control the displayed size without losing the SVG aspect ratio.

Why is Shorten element IDs disabled by default?+

Changing IDs can break CSS, links, accessibility references or JavaScript that refers to those IDs from outside the file. Enable it only when the SVG is self-contained and you have checked the result.

Why can readable output be larger?+

Readable output adds spaces, indentation and line breaks. It is easier to inspect and edit, but minified output is normally better for production file size.

Are my SVG files uploaded?+

No. Reading, optimization, preview generation and download all happen in your browser. Your file is not sent to IMG Tweak.

Is there a file size limit?+

There is no fixed upload limit because the file is processed locally. Browser memory, SVG complexity and device performance still set practical limits.
